  • Thurman St. Bridge, Dave Johnsen (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
From west end of this bridge (on a clear day after the leaves have fallen) you can see five volcanoes at once. Mt. Hood, Mt. Tabor, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Ranier, and Mt. Adams. And it's not rickety or they wouldn't allow Tri-met busses to pass over it.

  • Location of United 173 crash, Steve (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
United Airlines still owns the property on the south side of the street where the house was destroyed. You can see it is an empty lot. Nice and green.

  • Greenwood Hill Cemetery, wrote 16 years ago:
Greenwood Hills Cemetery is not and never has been run by Metro. Since 1987 it has been run by a group of dedicated volunteers under the name of Greenwood Hills Cemetery Maintenance Association or GHCMA. We rely totally on donations and volunteers to keep our program on going.

Isn't it obvious? It certainly isn't interesting. Nor weird for that matter. This tag has little redeeming value.

  • Goodwill Store, Barbara Que (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
I'm glad I was able to come across this site, as I was looking specifically for a goodwill store in Portland, but what's the damn address so I can get directions? The satellite map is of absolutely zero help considering I have no idea what streets I am looking at. Valiant effort though... I suppose.
  • The 1st McDonald's in the Pacific Northwest, Xantrex wrote 16 years ago:
I ate at this McDonalds site, when I was a kid.(And ever since.) Since I am 60, that was awhile ago. It was the original style building. Golden arches and all. No drive through or inside dining. Those were a long way off yet. All orders were taken at outdoor walk-up windows, then take it back to your car.
  • Voodoo Doughnuts Too, Xantrex wrote 16 years ago:
I've heard that said before, but darned if I can remember where.
  • Portland World Trade Center, Xantrex wrote 16 years ago:
When this building was under construction, it was known as the PGE Building. I was a construction worker and had access to the Helipad level. On one particular day, I went to the Helipad, where I was able to take some nice pictures of Waterfront Park. It was only about 19 or twenty stories up, but the view was very nice.

The bridge DOES move, in a strong wind. No big surprise, but sure is strange to feel.
  • "Driver's Seat", noliver wrote 16 years ago:
I'm pretty sure the sculpture was moved across the street as part of the MAX line construction, or at any rate, there is now a sculpture on the West side of the street. Accordingly, I've moved the tag.
