I went in there a couple years ago when I moved to town to see what it was all about. Very disappointing. My dad helped open the old Montgomery Ward when it was there, back in 1970. I really thought I was going to see some good stuff, but wow... It's like a ghost town.

It's the Alphabet District, folks. Get over it. I haven't lived in Portland a terribly long time, but I've only heard someone call it "Nob Hill" once. Every other time, it's been the "Alphabet District." And I think it's a great name. Something different.

In a way, I agree with what you say, Mutab. Seems like there's more people from Saudi Arabia that go to PSU than just about any other nationality. Why is that??? Still, it's a great university. Laid back atmosphere, good professors. I loved my experience here, it's a good school.

AWESOME downtown location!! I really enjoyed living here. Having hardwood floors and on-site laundry was great. My studio was spacious compared to others I've had and end unit had great views of the city. So close to Powell's etc and major transportation lines. Management was very friendly and fixed any maintenance issues that came up.

This is now the correct name and location for this tag. Verified through Google Street view.

When you are looking at this tag, turn on the Panaramio layer. There is a good image of the castle, from street level. Only one image, but it is real nice.

Bing still has an image of it. I guess they don't update as often as Google does. http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=rkm4hj4s6qzf&scene=5570483&lvl=2&sty=b I wonder why they tore it down. Also, if you have Google Earth, you can use their "Time" machine and go back in time to see the castle. However the "Bird's Eye view in Bing is far better and you can see the castle from four different angles. Do a screen capture if you wish to remember what it looked like. It may be gone from Bing, on their next update. Cheers

Tunnel 18. Where the other seventeen tunnels are, don't ask me. Thats what the railroad calls it. Just under 1 1/4 miles in length, opened in 1916. Before the tunnel, all trains had to take the St. John's line along the bluffs and around North Portland to connect to the mainline north to Seattle or the Kenton line east to the Gorge.
