  • Pile of Bikes Sculpture, Good Sam (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Technically the mass of bikes (aka the pile) is the People's Bike Library of Greater Portland, right? It is not a sculpture. It is a revolving resource of bicycles. ZooBomb!
  • Chapman School smokestack, home of the Vaux's Swifts, Good Sam (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
I believe the smokestack was decommissioned some years ago.
  • George C. Hoffmann Hall, Jeffery (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Formerly known as Harrison Hall because it is located at the end of Harrison Street. Although nowadays you must walk to the end of Harrison Street to get to it because the street was converted to a pedestrian only zone

  • The Vent, jack (guest) wrote 17 years ago:

It was actually a ship's Captain that had owned the land at first. He named the streets, I believe. I always thought that he was very a organized type of person.

  • Vista Ridge Tunnels - Hwy 26, gabe (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Going south following 26, East Portland, or the Dalles? Be prepared to stop--traffic is bad here 20 hours a day. The other lanes aren't much better.
  • Hoyt Arboretum, gabe (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
There's an unwritten agreement by the regular dog walkers that you don't have to obey the leash law there. Not a big deal, since dogs need to run, but the owners need to at least pick up the stool in the middle of the trails. It's a beautiful place to go.
  • Wimbledon Gardens Apartments, atul (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Until the 60s was the site of Lambert Gardens, a sort of for-profit botanical garden that was a famous Portland tourist attraction. When the owner retired he wanted to sell it to the city, but the city declined to make him an offer. So it turned into nondescript 60s apartments instead.
  • Human sized hamster wheel, name (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
You can't really run on it. You sort of hold the axis and lean forward and push the wheel around with your feet.
  • Forest Park, jawshoeaw (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
Soccer moms don't actually make much noise in my experience, and ipods are basically silent (when listened to by soccer moms anyway). Wildlife doesn't generally stand out in the open, regardless of noise levels, as other wildlife then eats it.
