The bright green area near the middle is a pond -- there's a bit of an algae problem.

Correction -- it was not designed by F. L. Olmstead, but by a disciple of his.
  • Voodoo Doughnut, peter pan (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
VooDoo donuts are the craziest donuts you ever did see. A Portland Landmark.

Great food, and a hip decor. The have outside seating and is great place to sit back and people watch. This the best late night place to eat downtown!
  • Value Village, hossmaster (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
It's no longer a Value Village. It's being converted to a "Grocery Outlet." Doesn't really fit the neighborhood, except maybe the towers directly to the south of it.

Excelling trails for hiking and mountain biking. If you want to see wildlife, go early in the morning to some of the more remote areas away from downtown.

Proposals have been submitted from 3 developers. In my opinion, only one (named SEED and submitted by The Lab) actually addresses the stated goals for the project that were included in the RFP that was issued. The other two proposals attempt to privatize the site and make it an enclave for high rise condo towers and office space. Take a look at the proposals and comment on them. Remind the PDC that the city of Portland acquired the site with tax payer dollars specifically to build an open space park - not to turn over to condo developers.

  • OHSU Tram - Portland Aerial Tram, Colin3ck (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
I lived at the top on SW 10th Ave. and used the tram a lot because it's free to ride down... The Portland streetcar comes fare-less (well just about :p ) right at the bottom so its really convenient for downtown access from up on the hill. Its a 4 dollar trip back up though, so I stuck with the busses on my way home.

I am from Salt Lake City and I have family that lives in Portland. I love this city, it is very nice, minus all the nude beaches and stuff. I have noticed Portland is a very open city.
